1. Trim the wick: Before each use, trim the cotton wick to approximately 1/4 inch to prevent excessive smoking and ensure a steady flame.

2. Allow a full melt pool: On the first burn, allow the candle to melt across the entire surface to create a full melt pool. This will prevent tunneling and promote an even burn in subsequent uses.

3. Burn in increments: For optimal performance, burn the candle for 2-3 hours at a time. This allows the wax to melt evenly and avoids the formation of a tunnel.
